My name is Dave and I am a 24 year old ASP developer UI Developer and owner of Irish Developer dot com. Originally from Dublin I spent a couple of years as a child living in New York City. Ever since there I spent my summers in America with family. I started at an early age around computers. Mainly down to my father being one of the most know and respected programmers of Avaya phone systems in America. From spending my summers with him in New York I was given a deep insight into voice and data systems. His friend Eric started teaching me programming at the age of 10.
Here is some quick facts about me:
- I am a licenced Cirrus SR20 Pilot.
- I am an ordained minister in the State of New York (long story)!
- I have the best girlfriend in the world, Vicki (who I made a Red Sox Fan site for, since she is the biggest fan).
- I have 3 sisters (Catriona, Ellie & Eva) two of which are adopted, 1 of whom I have yet to meet.
- I am the 3rd cousin to John Lennon of the Beatles (my Great Grandmother was his Aunty).
- I have a barcode tatooed to the back of my neck, I have yet to finish it!
I started building my first website with a program called Trellix Web on a laptop my father bought me for Christmas in 2000. The program was useless. After a couple of months building bits and pieces each night. Then I contacted my cousin Philip. Between him and a friend of his Rupert I published it to the internet. After setting up my website I drove myself to learn to turn it into a dynamic website. I was bored with static flat html.
SNOTFACE (Thanks Vicki!)

When I was 18, only 2 years after I started learning web design. I was giving an opportunity to work for my cousin as a web master and web designer. My job was simple, to maintain the company’s web pages which were all flat html. It was at this time I really got into VBScript and I and Flash. After spending several months living in New York working for my fathers company FoneSys Inc. I returned to Dublin (long story. Gavin don’t laugh & Vicki don’t cry), and went back to working for my cousin in his hotel reservations company Booknow Limited. I am currently working IT & development. Mainly at this point I am in development. I have worked with everything from Windows 3.1 to Server 2003 and even Avaya Definity G3’s
I am learning the Flash Streaming Media end of things and it is very interesting. One of the many talents I have is the ability figure stuff out, like how to play a DVD on My Space.
Simple rip the DVD convert it to MPEG (look for the largest .VOB files, chances are thats the video without the menus. You can also use the MPEGs to put on your iPod :P), convert it to Flash Video and stream it from my desktop or how to make my own MP3 server, simple use Google Desktop to index my desktop and then use its XML back door to display search results on a web page.
I have just started a new job (Dec ‘07) with Newbay (if you don’t know who they are, they played a huge part in Bebo on your O2 Mobile) as a UI Developer. Which involves a lot of JSP!
Among my other talents

- xHTML
- CSS
- Javascript
- XML
- XSL
Multimedia
- Action Script
- Flash
Database

- mySQL

Hi Dave, we are an ambitious, large-scale Irish start-up (still in alpha-mode), busy hiring and rapidly expanding. Check out jobs on www.ammado.com and let me know if you are interested in talking to us or if you know anyone who might be interested. As you will see - we are looking for frontend and backend developers, but what I need really urgently right now is an excellent web designer. Would be great to hear from you, all the best, Anna
