Netcraft Risk Rating

I installed the Netcraft tool bar earlier this week. I was having some issues with spamming on this site so I was using the tool bar to find out where these IPs and websites where hosted. And I was checking other blogs for new posts and I was shocked at the Risk Ratings Netcraft have given to sites on my blog roll. So I have decided to get a list together of the sites on my blog roll and their risk rating. Irish Developer has a risk rating of 0. Which is the best.

Now each one with a * are hosted with Blacknight. Out of 5 sites with Blacknight
only 1 has a 0 risk rating of phishing. Which makes me wonder who and what are they hosting to give such high risk ratings.

Looks like Netcraft is penalizing shared hosting servers. My blog is hosting on my own server with an old enough domain name compared to the rest, hence why it gets a low rating.

The other blogs mentioned are on shared hosts where there are lots of new domains on the the ip address. For example, Irish SEO Marketing is on one of the newest shared servers, with LOTS of new domains, so it is probably the ip that’s penalized.

This site is on a shared server as well. And I have a risk rating of 0, but the domain is showing up as being online since 2000 so I would have to agree with you. Ireland SEO Marketing is showing up as being New.

But I think it is unfair that Netcraft assume a website is a risk because they don’t have enough information on the domain and maybe some of those domains just happen to be on a shared server with a site that is up to no good.

All I needed was another side to get hit with some warning.

I’ve been using the tool bar for a couple days and I cant see much relability in it. I’m seeing all kinds of whacky results on different domains.

Well they are a trusted source for anti phishing.
